In this video, I show how you can easily modify pants that are too large at the waist to fit properly. In this example, I take some size 31" pants and reduce them to fit my 28" waist. If you find you're generally too small for store bought clothes (like I am) or find great used clothes that are just a bit too big (like I do), this tutorial will show you how to tailor them to your form.

  • Erm.. does this work for jeans? Because the seams are doubled... like || if you know what i mean...

  • It does indeed work with jeans - I tried it on a pair a few months ago. Just be careful when you sew over the double seams, and use a denim needle if you can (they're far sharper and have a better chance of getting through the seam). Do wear eye protection, though, as there's some chance of breaking a needle if you're not careful!

  • Sewing skinny jeans isn't hard.

Put your pants on inside out, pin them how tight you want, all the way down on the outside of your leg, take them off and sew

  • do you know how to sew into skinny jeans can u please make a video for me i beg u

  • Sumit....SEXXXY! :D

  • do you cut out the triangle (with the original seam) after you've sewn it down a make a new seam? Thanks for posting this!

  • I don't have a machine is there a way with needle

  • @sumitsumit thanks for the video. I have a number of jeans/pants that I want to take in after I buy a sewing machine. My next question is, how to deal with the bagginess of these pants? My other question, after taking the waist in, how do you prevent it from riding very high. A tucked in shirt with pants at the nevus would look ridiculous. Any ways of avoiding that?

  • @Maderame2010 In Canada check out Bluenotes and Mexx. That's where I mosly get my clothes.

  • @sumitsumit Thank-you for the video, and about sewing jeans, but for me, I have new jeans and lost alot of weight and there new with the tags, all my new jeans are to big, but this one is a thin denim and the back seam is white , I tried a clip at the back like you did, but the way the pockets are it won't lot bad, but how to duplicate the same type of stitch? I would love to have your machine but mine if a normal Singer!, could you tell me how to proceed? Thank-you so much! A+ on your jeans!

  • @sumitsumit hi there.. im 14 and i bought a pair of pants that are a little bit to big but they are motocross pants ( dirtbike ) how do i bring in the waist on elastic waist? the pants are a 36 and i need a 34.. help?

  • Great video, but by decreasing just the back seam, doesn't it make your side seams rest to far back on the sides of your legs? Or is that not very noticeable since they are really dark pants?

  • i was wondering can you film more of a close up. i am someone who learns by visuals soo that would help a lot! not that i dont wanna see ya it's just easier for me to understand :D

  • umm wouldnt back of the pants look weird ??
