A lot of people dog the RM1x. I bought mine for $100 bucks just to run simple patterns to my modular. After owning it for a number of years, I must say it has its place in my studio. The sounds are just the typical Yamaha AWM2 engine. I use it it for the simplistic sounds and as a controller for other outboard gear. I kept mine hooked up to a Supernova rack and a Yamaha CS6r. The RM1x does exactly what it was designed for, to program all your parts and then remix. It is a composition tool.
