  • Somehow it reminds me of Depeche Mode?!

  • @shatterhandbr83 Actually, Chris Hüelsbech's TFMX routine could play back 7 voices. But they're still hard left or right. No balance.

Chris was also good at making it sound like there's more voices playing than it really is. Like omitting sounds you expect to hear but really don't hear, and mixing two samples into one. Like bassdrum and bass.

  • @exdeath77 Some programmers knew a trick to make the Amiga output sound in 6 channels instead of 4 (It was something about splitting 2 8-bits channels in 4 7-bits channel... I have no idea of what this means anyway)

Anyway, Chris Huelsbeck used this trick (It seems he can code pretty well, as he programs his own music-making apps). That's how in games with his music, the title music usually usees 6 channels, and the in-game music uses 4 channels while still have sound effects.

  • @SFXAlien The Amiga could only play sounds hard left and hard right. It didn't have a balance control. If you wanted same sound out of both speakers you would have to use two channels. And with only 4 channels avaiable that is out of the questions in games. When recording music from the amiga it can be a good thing to mix some of the left sound into the right and vice versa to make it sound a little better with headphones.

  • Hmm it could be.

    Thanks for your help :)

  • Or it could be this: When UR playing the game and there R lots of SFX, like bullets, explosions, etc, the Amiga has to cut some of the sounds out of the Music, 'coz there're too many sounds 4 it to cope with all at once. Hope that helps.

  • Hi. It could be 1 of 2 reasons: There are lots of sounds in this song that are panned hard left or hard right, (only coming out of one speaker). On headphones, U only hear these sounds with one ear, so they sound very distant. If U play the music through speakers, U can hear both speakers with both ears. So UR not getting the full stereo effect.

  • Oh. Ive found out why this version sounded different to the version on my game. It wasnt the song, it was the headphones I was using. For some reason they were taking parts of the music out making it sound different. Im listening to it again now without the headphones and it sounds normal now. lol

  • This sounds different to the version ive heard on my game
