I made this with Blender 3d (www.blender.org) to be my boot animation on my android devices. It took about 1 day for the bake, another 4 days for the render on a 8-core machine thanks to the subsurface scattering, radiosity, and raytracing. I'm going to redo this by increasing the subdivision on the "cloth" and increasing the raytracing depth from 2 to 3.
Nice Job! I was trying to make a similar effect unveiling a logo but I cant seem to get it to work. Did you just hook vertices to an empty and animate the empty away from your object?

@tpennetta I converted the text into a Mesh to act as a object. I didn't think about using hooks - but that's a really good idea. I might try it in my next iteration. The way I did it was actually to create a sphere, hide it from the render, and move it up through the floor. The cloth "hangs" on it and goes up with it.

looks nice, very creative. Just one thing: The cloth does seem to overlap itself at some places. Ttry setting the self collision on a higher quality (Physics -> collision -> self collision. Quality at least 5 (I recommend, higher will cause longer baking time, but look nicer)

@BlenderDiplomDeutsch Good idea! I've wanted to re-render this with Cycles for a while, so I will definitely do that.
