Great video, thanks. I'm in my late 50's and just getting into green wood working (better late than never...!) so i'm soaking up all of the you tube stuff on green woodworking and tools right now :-)

@zekehooper I use spring steel. I forge the socket & weld it with a Stainless, dissimilar metals rod. I dont harden the froe edge I just return the spring through retempering. I have done a video about tempering.

@zekehooper If you are struggling to get a thin leaf spring a touring caravan/light trailer should have what you need.
