  • Think about how we may be facing a crisis in ten years or so with the death of most of the celebrity musicians of the 60's and 70's becoming eminent. What's a world without any Beatles, Stones, Dylan, Zeppelin,Stevie wonder, Eric Clapton, CSN&Y, CCR, ACDC, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, James Taylor, Rod Stewart, Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, Billy Joel, Paul Simon, Carole King, Chicago, Ozzy, and many, many, more, going to be like? No more superstar musicians?

  • @sixsixxsixxxx I know you posted to get a reaction, so here it is. The fact is, there is some good music today by true musicians who know how to actually sing and play instruments. I like some of it, and I'm 53. But, there is a lot of crap receiving regular airplay too. It is really shit. I think when people are fed a steady diet of mediocrity, they start actually believing it is good. In the 70's we didn't have to be told by the media the music was good....it really was. No question!

  • Thanks for the great music Dan. Rest in peace...

  • Brian Culbertson, John Mayer...keep this list going!

  • @CFMD28 Thank you, very well written and the truth just simply hurts. I'm 43 and I KNOW what you are talking about. I don't even bother listening to the radio anymore. I stopped about the year 2000. The music pretty much was shot to shit, particularly when they turned the industry into a "McDonald's" arena. People are fed the same mediocrity in films as well. No one had to tell us or force feed to us what was good. Music speaks to the soul, films in the same way. Everything is undisciplined.

  • @dan7dees Yes, this is disturbing and at an alarming rate for actors as well. What I don't understand is that usually musicians lived a lot longer than most at least up to 20 years ago. I don't understand what is happening because you would think that accomplishment and wealth would bring a level of peace or comfort. That is really something. I guess the business is so much more stressful or some deeper level of depression and over work is slowly killing away our favortite talent. Scary.

  • Really liked Dan Peek. May he know the depth of his heart's deepest desire in the presence of the true God.

BTW, the entire segment shown from 1:08-1:23 is of Dewey, not Dan. No biggie. Dan wouldn't have cared.

  • @1tinfinger2 it was his choice to leave....

  • r.i.p one of the great voices in the world.

  • Very sad !
