This video explains the issue of the achievement gap from the point of view of Sam, a first year bilingual Spanish Fellow. The achievement gap is the term used to describe the disparity in academic performance between certain groups. In Denver Public Schools, the most severe achievement gap exists between black and Hispanic students and their white peers. As a Denver Teaching Fellow, Sam is charged with the challenging task of closing this achievement gap in his classroom.
