S Korea inaugurates first female president

South Korea's first female president has been sworn in during a ceremony in Seoul.

Park Geun-Hye used the occasion to call on North Korea to stop wasting its resources on military weapons and laid emphasis on an interest in dailogue with North Korea.

She has also promised to revive and "democratise" the economy but this has been met by some skepticism.

Koreans are all the same, the "north" and "south bit is a very recent artificial barrier made 50 years ago. It was one country for the rest of its 5000 year history so there is no such thing as "being from the north" or "from the south." Just because Germany was separated into East and West Germany doesn't mean that their families couldn't have originated in the other part to where they ended up when the wall went up.
