@howyadoinable I know what you mean, singing teachers are often light on explanation. The thing is, if you practice doing this scale whilst keeping your throat as relaxed as possible and not belting, doing this scale will help you develop your mixed voice.

I think singing teachers often forget to explain that doing the scales is the practice you need and if done correctly will be all the tuition you need. The theory behind it all is rather surplus to requirements.

Hmm... what if I have a nasal voice whenever I sing high? It's almost like I'm doing a falsetto, because it's weak and unattached... and I've basically been doing it all my life. Is that too weird of an explanation?

@thienfoil: I sort of second that. Starting today though, I managed to find the belted sound.. I have a hard time finding it every time though, it comes and goes. Practise makes perfect huh? But the scales didn't do it for me; I just first identified my head-chest break and went over the flip slowly on a "uuh" sound (cause I found that the uuh positioned my tongue to ease the process). When I get the belted sound I feel vibrations in the chest, and it sort of "feels" more like chest voice.
