UT Distinguished Professor of Early Childhood Education Dr. Joan Kaderavek talks with 13abc about a new study that shows children in home-based daycare centers are watching two hours of TV per day. Dr. Kaderavek gives her thoughts on the effects of watching television at such a young age.
I definitely agree with this. Our 3-year old son has learned some useful information from watching certain shows or cartoons, but I do limit the time he spends in front of the television. We do outdoor activities more so than staying indoors all day. It helps him learn new things hands on, we get fresh air, and he enjoys getting to watch nature as well. Also, reading books at a young age has helped him with word pronunciations and sentence structure. He is an excellent conversationalist already
