This is a video of one of my demos. I thought i'd edit together clips from here and there into videos to go along with some of my demos, rather than just the sound. Since people often have a limited attention span, thus a video may lure them into listening for longer.

The track is SAUDADE. Originally performed by Masayoshi Takanaka.

Thanks to "RaidouFuwa" for backing music!

SAUDADE

Written by M. Takanaka
Arranged by E. Shi based on Arrangement by M. Takanaka

guitar - Esan Shi
other instruments - As "guitar karaoke" music track.

Recorded / edited / mixed / produced by E. Shi

It's basically my demo version of Takanaka's "Saudade" written by Masayoshi Takanaka. But I rearranged and remixed into a longer version with improvisation in the soloing.

Background video footage taken from various Takanaka videos, featuring Hiroko Yakushimaru and also from an Akina Nakamori video.

Keep checking for more demos as there will always be more to come.

And add my musical space http://www.myspace.com/shinkongo too. It's not complete yet but it will be updated soon with all demos.

The original "Blue Lagoon" composition was performed by Masayoshi Takanaka and written by Masayoshi Takanaka. That and footage used in the video are all copyright/the property of the respective owners.

  • Hello.I'm Japanese amatour musician.

    There are many favorite guitarist,

but Masayoshi Takanaka is my special.

Especially SAUDADE is the best for me. I feel solo part isn't Tanakana's copy, but shinkongo's style. I feel very cool and excellet play ! So I listen this video in my car! I'm lookinng forword to seeing next video. Thank you.

  • Thanks a lot and nice to hear from you.

Yeah I always like to bring a different element.

I feel no point in note for note copy.

Hope to hear from you again soon.

  • Its remember me brazilian song, like Ricardo Silveira

    Excellent!

    Congratulations!!

  • Well it's actually Takanaka's song but yeah it's based on/influenced by Brazilian musics. And thanks a lot, nice to heard from you. And thanks for your appreciation.

  • Hi ! Very nice song, well performed ; isn't your guitar a Gibson? That what I think having seen on the head of the neck, cause it's not a Gibson that I know. Well played, 5***** ! I like the sound of that guitar. And it was a guitar well choosen for this kind of "instrumental song". Congratulations. BYE !

  • Many thanks. This one is not Gibson, it's Yamaha SG2000s. The Yamaha SG's were used by Santana (from the period around 1975 until around 1987, 1981-1987 was both PRS and Yamaha) and also used by Takanaka who originally made this song. There are some other demos I use Gibson. For this kind of tone I use the Yamaha SG. Glad you like the sound!
