daviduzz, I kind of worry about your line of thinking from earlier. The idea of sampling is in itself can be considered as much of a technique as a blue note in jazz or even an arpeggio. It's valid to question techniques or give opinion to the subjective quality of music but ultimately when you want to compare two different kinds of things you have to look at it objectively.

For some reason this made me think of Kraftwerk in the 70s.

Did I shot down 2/3rds of the music industry? In a way. ;) That won't change the fact that these albums will be sold cause listening to them is enjoyable. But the real important thing is to remember and glorify those artists, who write their own music, try to think outside the scheme made by similar bands earlier, create progress (or try) in their genre with their songs. Just look at rock, metal, jazz genres. It's hard to innovate, these genres are saturated but many artists continue to try.

Fair play but then I think its fair to say you've just shot down 2/3rds of the music industry. The majority of all bands have music writers meaning the artists are handed the song after someone else has written it. Just have a look at the number of people involved in writing tunes for an albums. Think this one is just more obvious whereas the others take the glory like they've written every chord themselves. I think not.

Yeah, it sounds good, but this is only the result. It's wrong to ignore effort put into work (or lack of such effort), not to mention target. That's the biggest difference, which says a lot about artistry level.
Let's say I'm an artist. If I copy technique and ideas for paintings from Van Gogh, I'm not as good artist as him, though I can paint really well. If I learn to play Mozart blindfolded and make my own songs from parts of his, I'm nowhere close to him, though it's very hard to play that.

And it is still called artistry. Regardless of work being reworked and re-engineered. Sounds good, so it works...

I'm no savior, I just know the difference of qualities. And it's not about pure criticism, cause the result is cool. It's a funny and nice song to listen, but objectively said, it's just a copy. I will never strongly favor music that is only a mix of "random" samples. The Avalanches are more composers than musicians in a way, as their skills are more about selecting the right tunes and mixing them together than playing real instruments and trying to create something new out of them.

The most randomest, craziest song and video ever. But I love it!
