she's truly admirable

Remember Gloria Swanson in Sunset Blvd saying: "we dont't need sound, we had faces" In the Golden Era of movies,it was the voices. Eve Ardens voice was so distinctive it was impossible to confuse her with any other female. Most often times it was the faces (beautiful as they might have been) it was the voices that made them so memorable. Now you can't tell one speaking voice from another.

small note
Her worst film (of all she's done) was "Pandemonium" (with friend Donald O'connor). it was (as title itself says)...hell! one of the grossest/sickest, unfunniest, worst-themed independent films imaginable. I cringe terribly thinking about it. whatever you do...DON'T see it ever in the good life you can have.
sorry I brought that up.

They sure broke the mold when they made Eve Arden. Very underrated actress. Some of my earliest memories is her show on TV.

@billyralphweeden AND AS IT HAPPENED......
AVA GARDNER PASSED AWAY IN 1990 TOO :-(

I KNEW EVE ARDEN PASSED AWAY.......
BUT - I didnt realize it was late 1990. I got a big kick out of Eve, and I
enjoyed many movies she starred in. I have always loved Ava Gardner,
and I remember years and years ago in the 1970s', I loved the Ava film,
"ONE TOUCH OF VENUS", which came out in the 1940s'.......
BUT - the EVE ARDEN film I will forever love her in was "MILDRED PIERCE".
She was perfect in the roll as IDA, pretty, sassy, a real dame !!
Eve Arden was wonderful !!

Great actress. I liked her on the Mother-in Law with Kay Ballard. I used to watch that show when I was a child.

No one can deliver a sassy line like Eve Arden!

Saw her earlier tonight in Anatomy of a Murder with Jimmy Stewart, Ben Gazarra, George C. Scott and Ben Gazarra. She had a quick wit laced with sarcasm. Classy lady.
My Mom was actually a friend of Eve Arden's. I had the wonderful experience of meeting her a couple of times. She was even wittier and sharper and more fun in person than on film. What a wonderful woman.
