BBC Jazz Awards artist of the year 2006 Anita Wardell performs the song "Moanin'" from her latest album "Noted". The album is on the Specific Jazz label and available to buy from www.proper-records.co.uk
Accurate and inventive but more importantly, swinging and playful. With all her sophistication Anita understands jazz at its most elemental level. And what a band!
@prandall240 I just took a vocal Improvisation class with Anita. It was just wonderful. She broke down how to scat singing. The point is that the voice is an instrument and to go beyond traditional boundaries of what people think that the voice is capable of is really quite amazing. You really never know what you are capable of doing until you push yourself. Her scat singing is amazing.
Anita: First time I've heard you. Just marvelous. I am officially in love with your voice. Love to see in duet with Kurt Elling. Will now be a great collector and follower of yours.Thank you for the pleasure you've given me with this cut.
To be honest, I was a bit reserved when I first heard the tracks from this album, but it's really grown on me! I had the privilidge of meeting Anita recently- really nice lady, great scat singer. Thoroughly enjoyed this!
This is just great. The piano solo is superb and Anita sings with verve and passion.

She taught at my music college along with Trudy Kerr. I feel so grateful to have learnt with them.

looks really friendly, this woman. Good technique,
but on this record she has a bad intonation and a voice like a frog, sorry!
