"Demolished for safety" was the original official story. It might even be the truth! So why go with "fire collapse" at the last minute? Because some sissy bureaucrat (like Rudy Giuliani) got cold feet. Maybe he was afraid of questions, like who did what, what did they do, when did they do it, where did they do it, you know....journalism. So he went with a lame lie. He's so lame it didn't seem lame to him... but now the government is stuck with it.
