In 2011, Foot Locker set out to prove that sneaker art is real art. With a prize of $50,001, the Foot Locker Art Prize received over 6000 entries and the calibre of these entries was astounding, impressing the 3 judges, Andrew Frost, Simon 'Woody' Woods and Dave White. But there can only be one winner and that title was awarded to Brisbane artist, Kalin Thompson for his piece 'Forbidden Fruit' inspired by the Nike Air Force 1. The Foot Locker Art Prize, dubbed the World's Richest Colouring Competition has shaken up the art world and proven sneaker art IS real art!
Check out the video of how the Competition came about and the milestones of the Foot Locker Art Prize! Enjoy!
