Democrats' Innocent Bystander Fable

Here is a video I put together to explain a very simple point. Watch Democratic presidential candidates pass the buck and pretend they have no power to end the Iraq War - when in fact they do have all the power they could need to stop the war.

Politics is difficult but some things are very simple, (not "easy.") This is one.

Every project requires money including war, and when the dominant party relies on crucial votes from the opposition party to fund any of their pet projects, those votes can be used as leverage to make all kinds of things happen. It's done in democratic governments all over the world.

Nope, they only win when we give in and run away. Interesting idea though, this war is being fought against terrorism (not just the war in Iraq and Afghanistan) to keep them away from the US. Have you ever heard that "offence is the best defence?" Don't lob our military in with the slugs of humanity that directly target innocent men, women, and children. Murder is flying airliners into civilian targets, beheading reporters, and rigging yourself with explosives and going into civlian areas.

You seem to think I'm saying the anti-war Dems need to introduce the correct bills to stop the war (actually, it's an occupation, not a war). No. All they need to do, once again, is refuse to vote for any bill that further funds it. It's very simple, not rocket science. They tell Bush they won't cooperate. That stops the "war" (occupation). Dead.

I know what the 67 votes refers to. But any bill has to get enough votes to pass. The Democrats who want to stop the war can do so by telling BUsh they won't vote for war funding beyond enough troop support to keep them alive and get them out of the country. That would stop it right there. Boom. No bill. Nothing sent to the White House for the president to sign or veto. None of the politicians want to admit that they can do that.
