Jet Li's Fearless
Music video made by 'emuy' of the film Fearless (Huo Yuan Jia) from 2006, done to the ending credits theme of the film by Shigeru Umebayashi (Composer)

Amazon.com editor:
Contemplative and elegiac, this score for Jet Li's martial-arts movie is light years away from your usual Hollywood action music--even when the pace picks up, it remains evocative and elegant, with a tinge of underlying melancholy. For this we have to thank Japanese composer Shigeru Umebayashi, who also gave us marvelous scores for Wong Kar-wai's In the Mood for Love and Zhang Yimou's House of Flying Daggers. Here he relies on roiling percussion, ethereal choirs, and Japanese and Chinese flutes to suggest both the 19th-century setting of the film and an end-of-an-era mood.

  • @13241231324 As I understood it, the whole theme throughout the movie was that martial arts are a catalyst for self-betterment, self-development and introspection: not just destruction and killing. Each offers a different mode or path for this. The movie stresses that the core value of wushu is restraint. The smile represents him finally understanding, and benefiting from it: and clearly Tanaka, who selflessly hands the fight to him, at that moment comes to understand this too.

  • @awesomeion This is completely true, without Martial Arts I turn into a horrible, insecure and shallow person. Martial Arts are everything to me, it's my religion, my god.

Also, I watched this vid when it had like 137 views lol, and I can honestly say it deserves its views.

Don't worry, it's not his last film, he just said it's his last wuxia martial arts epic. He's done other epic Chinese war films, though. And he's still doing martial arts films too.

  • I always cry at the end of this movie. As a man who has had anger problems most of his life, martial arts has shown me how to have self restraint. That is where true power lies. This movie is by far the best martial arts movie ever.
