The Mbutis are a pygmy tribe that inhabit the Ituri rainforest in Africa. They live a nomadic, hunt/forage lifestyle and have little to no personal possessions. Communal singing is a key component to group cohesion. Their vocal music has no lyrics, the sounds produced are not of any language at all. The goal is to interlock various fragments into one melody.
