An interview with Agustin Aguayo who, after serving in Iraq, refused redeployment and applied for Conscientious Objector status. This was refused and he served 8 month in military prison.
Now that he is free, Agustin tours the country working with at risk youth.
This 5 minute interview was taken during a rally and march to a military recruiters office in Portland Oregon earlier in the summer of 2007. The rally was sponsored by a local coalition of peace groups, www.pdxpeace.org as well as www.couragetoresist.org.
In the interview Aguayo speaks about what prompted him to refuse to take up arms. Also, he addresses how the promises made by military recruiters quite often never materialize for the young soldiers after serving their country.

Agustin Aguayo is one of the bravest people this country can claim. He and his wonderfully eloquent wife Helga are heros and true patriots. There is no American that would not put their lives on the line for a just defense of their country if the need was justified. Augustin is such an intelligent person that he noticed early on, maybe before some of us, that this war was for the oil profits of just a few oligarchs.
GOD BLESS THE AGUAYOS.
