@FarceTax they did do that. lots of prisons were turned into supermax prisons back in the day. 23.5 hour lock down. it completely eliminated fighting and rapes in the prisons.
the only problem is that prolonged solitary confinement destroyed the minds of the occupants, over 90% of whom would eventually be released.

@scumgod13 For those who feel threatened there should be an option of being removed from general pop with access to a yard cage or something. this of course is not cost efficient enough for the greedy correctional institutions. inmates doing short term bits should have this option so they can just do their time without becoming victims or gang members thus actually "rehabilitating" them. for all those employed US prison administration and staff i hope the very worst for you and your families.

Its too simple to say that you need to fight back. Rape does not necessarily have to be done with violence. This is true in prison and its true in society. When you are surrounded by people and see that a situation is hopeless, and when you are threatened with being killed, do you really have a choice?

Well the rapist always pick on new fish that are weaker than they are or they gang up on their victim. By this guys logic then if he is ever in a car accident and is paralayzed or blinded and does marajana for the pain and gets arrested, then bigger stronger inmates have the right of mother nature and darwin to rape him b/c he is too weak to defend himself. The very survivial trait that made us the dominant species on this planet is cooperation that makes civilization possible.
