I don't see how it is indicative that because 'truth' won out that the baby had to be thrown out with the bathwater. When it comes to goodness and truth ultimately these 2 ideas are interconnected simply because they both relate to cognitive activity. So to dismiss the idea of a soul or of god, IS to dismiss the idea of truth. In actual fact both 'good' and 'truth' are qualities that have a solid basis in the human psyche and therefore neither of them individually can tell the whole story.

@Straighttalker83 There are realities beyond the true/false dichotomy and beyond cause / effect ; beyond the physical system and beyond space-time i.e. the light cone of physics. True and false , cause and effect , space and time disappear at the quantum level. Your non-physical consciousness forms your brain and exists independently thereof !

@Straighttalker83 Clearly science has brought tremendous benefit to mankind and the quality of life. The rational approach of the scientific method has balanced and tamed superstition and ignorance based fear. The incredible technology and advances in sanitation and conveniance is undeniable. The issue is that science oversteps it's bounds and begins to resemble a fundamental religion when it declares that that which it cannot verify - God , soul ,consciousness ,is non-existant.

On the other hand, “cause and effect” is a systematic approach- it is objective and descriptive (ie. If fuel is injected into a cylinder, compressed and ignited, it will combust- and there you have it- the modern engine) it makes you wonder where would we be had we perused the “such idealist concepts”? – Perhapse still riding on horseback (or shall I say the “imperfect exemplars of the idea of horse”).

“out with the bath water went Seoul, God, quality, and the concept called Arete for” (the saying “throwing out the baby with the bathwater is a metaphor meaning to dispose of the Precious good with the worthless bad”. Let us take the “concept of Arete” (depicted as the “baby” or the Precious good being thrown out with the “bath water” -the worthless bad) and compare it to the concept of “cause and effect”.
