@OldMacJesus really bothered me. I was hoping Nintendo learned from their mistake, but apparently not. Oh well. Rareware did it right with Diddy Kong Racing and Mario Kart Double Dash did it right, which was Nintendo. Nintendo have proven that even if the items were fair to everyone, no matter if you were in 1st or 12th, that gamers can still have fun with Double Dash. So now Nintendo is ignoring the fans that have stuck with Mario Kart since the original.

@OldMacJesus But games like Diddy Kong Racing and Mario Kart Double Dash were released for today's gamers. Those games were fair with the items, no matter what place you were in. Heck, Diddy Kong Racing even had speed boosts on every single race track and that game was still loved by everyone, even those that would be discouraged by harder difficulty. Just because you want to appeal to everyone doesn't mean that you have to make the game unfair. Nintendo did that again with Mario Kart 3DS, which

@Ryanmiller70 The reason the items are so broken and random is because later games are trying to appeal to every level of gamer so everyone can feel special. If we lived in a world that games only focused on a skill based player, then there would be a lllot less gamers today because they are too discouraged to actually get better. Thats the unfortunate part for those not born in the nes/atari years. They lack discipline ]:<!

@Ryanmiller70 If you actually did get a mushroom while in first with the options its hella rare i guess. While in first you would only get something like, a banana or a green shell. Anyone behind u may get 1-3 mushrooms 1-3 shells or bananas. Depending on how many people, what rank you in etc. Regardless if you shouldn't have to change the options, that's how it is.
-
@OldMacJesus Yeah, but you shouldn't have to mess with the game's options in order to make the game fair to everyone. It should just be automatic like it was in Double Dash. Besides, does it give you mushrooms to boost your speed in 1st place?

@Ryanmiller70 I do agree mario kart became more of a gamble over time but, in the wii version, you have the option of adjusting the type of items. If you want a more fair balanced game, you must turn items to strategic. Never will you get OP items, only items that make it just within range of catching up. This option greatly increased the joy of the game, when you are playing with friends i mean.

@madboy5566 Wiiviewer is a decent critic, but I disagree with a ton of his reviews and comparison videos, like when he did Mario Kart Wii vs. Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing. I was fine with the video till the end when he said that it's just a clone of Mario Kart. Why can't a kart racing game exist without everyone comparing it to Mario Kart? Hell, I stopped finding Mario Kart fun after the DS version. I tried playing the Wii version, but the item balance issues made it impossible.
