"Boxwood Bonsai"
Bonsai by Wise

Filmed on the HTC Sensation 4G Android smartphone over a quick 45 minute bonsai session.
Time lapse filmed on Canon 7d.

We love making movies and, of course, doing bonsai.

Today, Joe swiftly bonsais a beautiful Japanese Boxwood - a shrub often grown and shaped as hedges in yards. He begins by removing the tree from its original container and tackling a colossal, uncooperative rootball. He then preps the soil mixture and fills the pot, and finally places, structures, and grooms the Boxwood bonsai. As the day comes to a close, more pruning and shaping could be done, however, with the setting sun and pending darkness he sensed an appropriate time to let the tree rest. In the days, months, and years to come, Joe will continue tending to the Boxwood Bonsai himself, or perhaps sell the enticing piece to another person who can appreciate and care for it; thereby allowing him to continue creating his exquisitely unique bonsai trees. Either way, he hopes to ensure a long, happy life for this tree in a pot.

I set up a nice little time lapse with my Canon 7d just before he started, to document the process. However, shortly after I remembered that I had wanted to try out the 1080p video on my new Droid phone, the HTC Sensation 4g, so I grabbed it and started capturing some footage....45 minutes went by fast! I'm quite pleased with the results.

Hope you enjoy viewing as much as we did creating :)

  • Cool video. I like the way it was filmed and the bumpin soundtrack made it even more interesting. I think you should cut that one branch off that's hanging to the side and also it looked like you might of had a little too much root exposure. How is the tree doing?
