This is a long-neck round back mandola made by Michael Iucci of New York sometime between 1910 and 1930. It's quite rare and high quality. I'm doing this so you can hear the sound. He also made very fine banjos.
I was surprised to hear how natural the mandola sounded on americana, given that you'd normally hear it in a classical context. Now I'm inspired to see about getting one for myself.
Beautiful. I love the fullness of the tone.
