The ruling on finding a mate for marriage through the internet [Shaykh Saalih Al-Fawzaan]
الشيخ صالح بن فوزان الفوزان
Shaykh Saalih Al-Fawzaan, may Allah preserve him, was asked regarding the ruling on finding a wife on the internet through programs such asPaltalk for purpose of marriage.
أحسن الله إليكم صاحب الفضيلة ، وهذا سؤال عمت به البلوى في الإنترنت وهو : هل يجوز التعرف على النساء عن طريق برنامج محادثات يسمى بالبالتوك بنية الزواج منهن ، وهذا يكون عن طريق الإنترنت بالمحادثة أو بالمكاتبة ؟
Answer:
This is a cause to many harm & evil upon the people, due to the excuse that he is finding a person for marriage, so it is not permissible for a Muslim to enter in such affairs due to it being a cause of fitan & evil, (the issue) of the youth finding a mate (by the internet) could be a cause to many harm.
