I get a lot of questions from people asking about basic layout maintenance and so I thought I would put together a couple of videos on what I do and how I do it. This is part 1.

  • one major problem with the track rubbers i get are that once the rubbers are covered with the rubbish, you can't use them again or else they will just smudge it back on. The price down under for the rubbers are about $5 at my model shop. how much are they up there?

  • @thetrainkid1 - they're about £3 to £5 depending on the rubber but I don't have a problem with them accumulating any deposits. The ones I use are designed to break up into little bits, so all you have to do is vacuum the mess up afterwards.

  • Loved the beginning

Lol, a story of mine: I was running in an old loco of mine at a friend house, and he has it all, but after a while the rubber on the traction weal melted on the track and the weal flew off and hit a tree...

  • @firstgreatwestern76 - thanks for the comment! I shall check out your channel now.

  • Well done. :) Good cleaning there. I`ve done the same with our vaccum cleaner before, as my track often gets covered in cat hairs, lol. I do clean my track a lot, but my locos seem to run fine over strong patches of black dirt.
