12 September 2010 (Montreal) — About 60 Greenpeace activists in oil-covered bathing suits staged a "Black Tide Beach Party" today to tell participants at the World Energy Congress (WEC) in Montreal that there is an urgent need for the world to move beyond dirty, risky oil and develop more green, renewable energy to combat climate change. In addition to the oily bathing suit event, Greenpeace and 27 other organizations organized a rally of hundreds of activists outside the Montreal Convention Centre to greet the 5,000 participants from government, industry, international organizations, universities and energy industry associations at the opening of the congress today. The activists held banners calling for the
congress to "Go Beyond Oil."

i just think people should get a life. Where r u gonna get your energy from windmills r not even an option considering the fact that ever windmill uses 320kg of rare earth metals and solar panels uses silver. Maybe u shouldn't protest u should go to school and become an engineer and help make fusion energy or something

it would be good to mention that there was a significant presence if the wind, water and solar powered energy sectors. the WEC was not a solely oil industry dominated event. it's always nice to see that the protest was before the congress, and there is no mention of the positive work and connections made between the renewables, technologies that require significant capital investment and dedication.
