Come on everyone, there is no permanent solution for this problem besides buying a new console. I've tried it 3 times and lasted me only a month exactly. Only way it will last if you play less than 1 hr a day on the system. LOL. I've tested it for 4-6 hrs non stop and it broke on me. Another tutorial said to add flux to the solder which totally cakes the joints. So beware what you're doin. IMO there is no PERMANENT solution without making drastic fan mods to your system.

Thank you for this video. Because of your guide i could repair my similar constructed 40 gb PS3 and save all my savegames and trophies. I really did not believe that it works:-)
