...Although I have to say, I like the rear/tail of the standard Gallardo better.

Yes the front is the best angle; original rear lights were designed (I believe by Horatio Pagani) back in the early 1980's. New rear layout is very smooth and reminds me of an Audi R8.

I see... who's in charge of the design right now, still Donckerwolke? Anyway, I think the older italian Lambo designers (the likes of Gandini, Zagato, Bertone) had the best ideas back in those days... I don't like Lambos getting "smoother" or more civilized... Thankfully the Reventòn is an exception, too bad it's a strictly limited one.

Speaking to one of the guys from the factory who was at the launch, the design for the new Gallardo was the work of the in house design team within Lamborghini (and not Luc Donckerwolke).

I was chatting to Winkelmann and mentioned to him my thoughts on the issue of pure Lamborghini design: although it is wholly necessary for the financial success of the company to have a larger selling small Lamborghini (a "clone" of the V12, if you like), it is the iconic designs of the V12's that are the bedrock of the meaning of Lamborghini (Miura, Countach, Diablo and Murcielago).

For the brand to continue to maintain the same iconic status, its V12's must follow the same philosophy since the Miura. So yes, I would agree the Reventon design is essential in this regard (irrespective as to how many they produced). Can't wait for the next V12!
