In this classic clip from the 1980 PBS series, Walter Williams and Milton Friedman mix it up with the teamsters on the subject of labor unions. Which does more for the conditions of the worker -- the free market or unions?

  • @DynamicUnreality Thanks man!

  • it is much much to ware to see such intelligent black people. if you just go by what you see in the world every day while you just walk around or something you could easily think that there is no hope for black people when you see them with there pants below their knees and all the times you see a black women loose her temper in wal-mart represent . but how refreshing to see those who take advantage of the education were all able to get in this country. YES THIS WAS WRITTEN BY A WHITE MAN

  • @panama52009 I believe this recording is part of the rebuttal portion of an episode of the PBS series "Free to Choose", which you can find in its entirety on youtube if you are interested. More specifically, I believe it is this episode youtube.com/watch?v=Gb6aqitTgOM

  • liberals love freedom to choose, until that freedom ends up with them making a bad choice, in which case they were exploited, tricked, mislead, etc.

  • where's the second part of this recording?

  • @luvitluvitbaby You still don't get it. There is a division in the law between criminal law and commercial law. If we eliminated 100% of the commercial law, we would still have 100% of the criminal law active on the books.

The only commercial law we really need is protection of contracts which are agreed upon by both parties, and the protection of property. The rest will work itself out in the market.

  • @HumbleWillis You said what most conservatives I here say, let's get government completely out of the free market. This goes back to my point that conservatives often oversimplify things. I wasn't saying we should do away with basic criminal law because I think its right. I was saying this to illustrate a point. The point is if we really took government entirely out of the free market NO LAWS is what we would end up with.

I believe the law should protect the business and the consumer,

  • @HumbleWillis Good point.

  • @luvitluvitbaby There's a difference between keeping the government out of the legitimate functions of commerce which are buying and selling and contracting upon agreed terms at agreed prices and by an agreed time table, and the simple rule of law. Theft has no part in legitimate commerce but is a basic CRIME between entities. Criminal law has always been separate from commercial law, but for some reason liberals think crime is a basic function of commerce. Idiots. haha.

  • @luvitluvitbaby Without a corporate shield you would be "luvitluvitbaby, DBA Bill's Meat's". Your real name would be tied to the company name because it's not an independent entity.
