This is the ACDA California Coastal Region Honor Choir 2008 Performance at St. Ignatius Church in San Francisco.

The song is called Hotaru Koi. It is a tradition Japanese Children's Song composed by Ro Agura.

English Translation:
Ho, ho, ho firefly come, there is some water that's bitter to taste. Come, here is some water that is sweet to your taste; Ho, ho, ho, firefly ho, ho, ho, up this mountain path. Firefly's daddy stuck it rich, so he's got lots of dough, no wonder that his rear end sparkles in the dark. Ho, ho, ho firefly, up this mountain path. In the daytime hiding amongst the dewy blades of grass, but when it's night, his lantern burns bright. Even though we have flown all the way from India, zoom! and those sparrows swarm to swallow us.

  • Beautiful, my choir is doing this song, and I finnaly get to here how it is done by other choirs, great job, very talented young ladies.

  • that is a very beautiful performance of Hotaru Koi. We're actually doing this song as a Choir UIL piece, so I wanted to hear how we were supposed to sound and...wow.

  • @Welovelexlex we are going to sing this when we travel to Jaoan for 2 weeks from my choir. This song sounds wonderful, and its really easier than you think. Though i love manga and anime andthat stuff so no winder it was easy for me! only thing that bothers me in this video is the quality of the sound, and they pronounce it a lil wrong. I've heard this song live from a 44 people having japanese choir :D

  • It's so hard initially but if the end result is something like this it is simply amazing!

  • Were doing this song and were in 8th grade, and I'm so excited for it to sound like this. :]

  • great job!

hm I would really like to get the piano notes which the pianist has played here.

I'm going to offer this piece to our chor and this piano fits abolutely wonderful.

  • lol i remember doing this song it was so confusing and fun
