The fourth and final excerpt from footage of Lee Lewis (myself) and Gwen Hall. Filmed on 8mm film by Bill Madison in 1978 at Sun State Roller Rink, which was once located on Primrose Drive across from the Colonial Plaza Mall in Orlando, Florida. The music should be a 120 Waltz ... but the closest match I could find was a brief excerpt by Johann Strauss which had to suffice. I was 22 at the time and Gwen about 17. This was before our first competition if I recall correctly. This is a silver leveal dance. (Note our near collision with Shirley Wilson, who later became our Pro)...

  • Unfortunately, no. I am not skating any more. That was pretty much ended after a bad car wreck in 1994. You can see the wreck at jubchuqun . com / wreck.

  • Hi Lee, I do not remember if we talked before, but I remember Colonial Mall & miss it, so much, you & I are about the same age ,and most of all I missed Ronnies, I live out of Fl as well. You just can not go home.

  • Ah yes. Ronnies was a special place. When my mother came down to visit from WA I took here there to eat. It was a sad day when the Mall was torn down, and Ronnies was no longer a part of Orlando. I still consider Orlando "home" ... but it's not the home I once knew. I worked in Cityhall for 15 years, and still keep in touch. It has changed much. Many ways for the worse. -L

  • I enjoyed these! Are you still skating?

  • I think I was last there in 2003 also. I asked my friend drive by a certain place that I used to frequent so I could take a picture. The entire place was a vacant lot.

The downtown area now has high-rise condos (which I hear are not doing so well).

Do you remember the Woolworth's on Orange Avenue downtown? It was long gone before I left, but I still have a container of "Chinese 5 Spice" that I bought in that store. It's still good and I use it every now and then!

  • I am going back home to Orlando to visit family and i decided that I would check to see if Sun State Roller Rink was still there (along with Ronnie's) so I could show my fiance my old haunts from the 80's. I can't believe they are both gone!!!!! I went skating there every weekend and used to take figure skating lessons there by Bill (Can't remember his last name but he used to wear Canoe cologne!!!! Alot of it) I also bought my speed skates there too. Does Orlando still look like hell? :(

  • Ok I finally went to that site about your car wreck, and that was so horrible I could not believe it, I never got a DUI although I deserved 1000 of them, but in 1996 I quit drinking knowing I would one day get one I still dont drink to this day.

  • Yes I went back to Orland in 2003 ,,,twenty yrs after I graduated from UCF, and I was shocked. Orlando looked like hell. I was so depressed I could not get over it.
