Low threat environment. They are TOLD not to patrol with the weapon at the raedy position. No cam paint. Walking along a trail - all the cardinal 'No No's' of a tactical patrol. But this is deliberate!!!!!!!!! They are adopting a non-aggresive posture as part of the 'hearts and minds' policy.

Do Not make the mistake of thinking this is how Kiwi soldiers operate in a tactical environment.

my comments were in reference to east timor in 2000 basically it was a race to get the first kill. also keep in mind the day u leave inf iet theoretically u can be placed on the battlefield that means the military has changed your psycological profile human biengs are not machines. for those whom have lost someone close due to the military maybe u will see my point of view.

You say your with 1st Btn NZIR which is indeed based at Linton, got many mates in it, but further down you said your 3rd Btn.

3rd Btn is Auckland and Northland Btn Group, and is also TF?

@ginjaninja1988 I know im in the NZDF with 1st battalion NZIR linton military base.

Our training is no where near as good as the US marines,Buddy the marines are the best shock troops in the world i should know my cousin was a marine he fought in fallujah.

I had the same training as your brother except im not a reserve =)

@WRH90059 Our Soldiers are highly trained and skilled easily on par with British regs and US Marines. They use just as good equipment aswell. Our soldiers still train for full out WAR. Unlike many Kiwis they don't live with their heads in the sand thinking everything will always be hokie dokie. They train for the worst. I know; my borther is a Reserve Combat Engineer and he trains in everything from riot control to fullscale fortified position assualts, firefights and demolitions.
