@munich64 i've found so many more like them, since making this dvd have created a show on female rebels who were shamans, medicine women and prophets--Nanny of the Maroons, Wanankhucha of the Somali Bantu, lots more. Eventually i'll get a dvd out of it as well, but this year i'm working on the Woman Shaman dvd.

This is no condemnation you or Boudica. I just believe our cultures, both and women alike praise actions and qualities that are harmful and lower the quality of life for everyone even themselves. I cannot blame them. This is what our recognizes and legitimizes. In order for one to be recognized one has to embody these ideals. It's very sad. However I do look forward to the rest of your work.

@bistokidsfan I hear you and prefer compassion myself. Thing is, including such women is not the same as approving everything they did. Queens generally are implicated in social oppression and i don't hold them out as role models, only attempt to correct their omission from history. Women are capable of committing atrocities, so are any oppressed group especially when in extremis as the Iceni tribe was. This too is part of the history. I didn't have time to go into all details.

@bistokidsfan If we look closely at heroized figures, we can see flaws and even crimes. The Dalai Lamas for example presided over a deeply patriarchal feudal social system which committed violence against peasants and oppressed women. There is always more to the story.
