Read the definition of a Democratic Republic, you find that it is defined as a democracy and a republic. Now if you are not simply talking about the government type, and are talking about the nations that exist and have it in their name, for example: Democratic Republic of the Congo, Vietnam, Germany, ect. aren't really DR's, although some (which I can't list off the top of my head) were. You can find this information out, history isn't an difficult subject to follow.
