  • I remember these news breaks..Jessica Savitch was the best..such a shame when she passed in such an awful way...

  • Jessica Savitch was a professional, in every sense of the word. Her delivery, her posture, carefully though-out facial expressions were always on point. Her personal difficulties underscore her supreme professionalism. She was truly a trailblazer and a pioneer, and her delivery and poise are still emulated and copied today. Yet, there is no journalist who has been capable of duplicating her dynamic talent.

  • Is that Candice Bergen?

  • The reveal of the onscreen banner / how "NBC New Update" is revealed at the very beginning seems to speak of state of the art (slow) computing of those days... As if to say the news comes in this fast! - A virtual 'flash', but... they still had a ways to go. Post-"ticker tape" but the wire service relays (guess that was the term back then) was probably still printed out as some sort of hard copy text.

  • This News Update was from February-1978

  • The NBC News Update (anchored by the late Jessica Savich) was v/o by the late Bill Hanrahan and "The Little House on the Prairie" and "The Wind and the Lion" promos were v/o by the late Howard Reig.

  • The Hillside Strangler case was probably the biggest True Crime story of the late 70's

  • @slusher67 damm it hurt ju look at her i had a cush on her2 i will never forget those feeling a young boy cant forget she was my "secret girl freind"

now i m an old farted up man wit hfading eye slight .

    the mwas the daz.

  • Having said that, I just watched her Lifetime Intimate Portrait and was fascinated and saddened by her lifestory

Poor thing, at least she has peace now

  • Well, it started out that way, but Hollywood thought it would be too depressing, so they changed it to be more like "A Star is Born"

  • Up close and personal was based on her if I am not mistaken.

  • Nice to see a newscast where she wasn't drunk or coked up . . .
