To soleiman27: That isn't a legitimate argument. Rattlesnakes, even in big ol' Texas, actually avoid civilization and people as much as they can. They find dens and other places to burrow and stay hidden to avoid harm.
It's really a matter of parenting. Don't let your 7yo wander off into the desert and up hills without a chaperone (like you, per se?) It's not like you run into them everyday, on your way to work or the store. I've been around the world and have never seen this sort of cruelty.

To cobras7111: the cattle and sheep that get killed are well regulated and BRED as a food source. In the civilized world we call that "livestock". The snakes that get hunted (in the wild and un-regulated)

@Cobras7111 Well how many cow's ya kill. After all, it's your burger. You dont get all butt hurt bout a cow or hog or chicken. Snake is another food source. So why not kill em as long as there used and not wasted.

@huntersdman6 Don't kill a snake just because it COULD bite you. Believe me, would you kill a dog because it could kill you? No. And only 11 people in the United States of America die of a snakebite, and 7/10 humans survive one. So think about it next time you want to kill one.
