  • Completely awesome. Franco's, ONTV, Taco Viva, all that brings me back. I went to McArthur HS in early 80's. I still live in So Fl and teach here. I just talked to my students the other day about ONTV and they thought I had lost my mind. I'll have to tell them to check this out. thanks for posting!

  • @nittmo40 ANOTHER memory you just gave me - that's about when I first started to TRY to date, and my friends and I....REAL LADIES' MEN....used to take girls to both places, on dates!!!!! Ha Ha!!!

Actually, one MORE memory, before I get back to real life here, and you may or may not know about this, but your uncle prolly wouldn't really appreciate this.....My friends & I had a technique of getting FREE games - mostly on Williams machines (Space Invaders, DELUXE Space Invaders...remember?)

  • @guyinfl99 Your uncle was GM of Grand Prix?????????????? MAN, fer guys of OUR age, growing up down here - specifically the south broward area??? THAT, my friend, is probably the ULTIMATE. You can tell the WORLD about yer uncle, but I am one of the few people here that understands the magnitude of that. Whoa. I wasn't an expert at video games, but I LOVED playin' them back then in the very early '80s - 1979-1982 - and Grand Prix & Castle Park were both like Mecca!!!!

  • @nittmo40 Yes on all counts. I went to Broward and I am a little younger than you (recently turned 44). Of course I remember Castle Park (especially the water slides) and Grand Prix. In fact, for a short time, my Uncle was the general manager of Grand Prix.....used to get free rides....how cool is that. Also, back in those days we would spend whole days just hanging out at arcades. I miss those times.

  • @guyinfl99 Oh, mama!! Napoli's!!! The single-serving pizza, fer $5!!! Lemme guess - you went to Souf Broward. I went to Nova, pero I lived in the Hills district, and half a block from da Souf Broward distric'.

If you remember ONTV, and you went to Franco's - but as a kid - then you are prolly just a bit younger than I, cos I worked there, at the time, hwile I wuz in high school. I'm 46; you must be 41-42?

Remember Castle Park? And Grand Prix? BEFORE it was Boomer's?

  • @nittmo40 Warriors.....come out and playaaay. Loved that movie. As far as delivery goes, it is more than likely that we did. My mom would get pizza delivered sometimes and I'm sure we got Francos once in a while. There was also Antonios, Napolis and Lorenzos, all of which still exist I think. And yes Jaxsons and Grampas.

It's kind of cool that other people remember ONTV, since it is long gone and pretty much forgotten. The scrambled porn was my sex education....hahaha. Great memories.

  • @guyinfl99 Yeah! Great pizza, huh? I guess it goes wifout sayin' dat you went to Jaxson's, too.....Did you ever have Franco's deliver to you? It prolly wuz ME who derivered it!

Funny thing - my mom has her old ONTV box in her garage!! I sawr it da other day! I remember watchin' The Warriors and Hair on ONTV! And TRYING to watch the scrambled porn! Remember? Yeah....you do! Don't rie!

Good - no, GREAT - mem'ries!!!! Y'all made my day.

  • @nocollege1 On TV used to show soft core porn at night. We didn't subscribe to ONTV, but it would come in all distorted and wavy with a big horizontal bar going across the screen. When I was 13 I used to wake up in the middle of the night and sneak it on. I didn't know exactly what the hell I was seeing (I guess 13 year olds were more naive in those days - at least I was. Plus the distorted picture made it a little difficult to figure out what was going on), but it sure was exciting.

  • @nittmo40 I used to go to Franco's in Dania all the time when I was a kid. Wow that brought back memories.

  • i did work at Franco's pizza 1988/90 as a pizza maker in Kendall and the one in calle ocho, man those were the good old days!
