@123kayode123 great, great Nigerian side. My best regards from this Brazilian here who suffered a lot in 1996 but later was able to engage long conversations with many Nigerian friends I made here in the Federal University of Bahia, Brazil, always remebering that suberb team. I wish important African nations like Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Egypt, South Africa and Morocco had already won a World Cup. Maybe soon in... no 2014 NO, in 2018 in Russia! haha

The third goal was definitely not an offside for couple of reasons. According to the FIFA, a direct free-kick which resulted into a goal with one player kicking the ball will stand if there is no interference. In this case, the ball never touched the turf before it was kicked into the net, and only one player touched the ball from the initial free kick.

I was L-I-V-E at this game during the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. The soccer events took place at University of Georgia, Athens football field which was temporarily converted to a soccer field to accommodate the soccer Olympic event. It was great to watch our boys beat Brazil in the Semi- then Argentina in the finals.

Many of the Nigerians players were product of the youngest team ever to win a Champions league, Ajax. Four years later, they won the first Olympics gold medal to African continent in soccer, Cameroon after. This was one of the best matches i ever watched live TV. Except the fair play at end of the match, wasn't pleasant to watch.
