Why use terms like "steal" and "restitution." Instead, say "the origins of..." Did Peter Paul and Mary "steal" 'Michael row the Boat' or Bo Diddley steal the "traditional" blues riffs he used (and possibly complete songs) from older bluesmen who had used them long before his birth, and ALSO DIED PENNYLESS. The Tokens did "in fact" steal this traditional song written and sung by Solomon Linda. In fact they claimed that "they" almighty Septic Tanks were the ones that gave this song world-wide appeal ... forgetting that the original artist died a pauper while so many enriched themselves from his original. In any language - that's stealing. It was Pete Seeger who learnt the truth and made every effort to create restitution to the Linda family.
