Richard Ubaldo and Mark Fiorentino were elected to the Bethlehem NH Select Board in March 2008, after the most expensive and corrupt campaign in the history of local politics. Ubaldo and Fiorentino are surrogates of Casella Waste Systems (Casella), a corporation with one half of a billion dollars in annual revenues, and owners of the North Country Enviromental Services (NCES) landfill, located in Bethlehem NH.
Bethlehem has spent considerable time and efforts getting the proposed landfill controlling House Bill 1429 (HB 1429) passed in the NH House of Representatives, which was strongly opposed by Casella's nine lobbyist.
One of Ubaldo's and Fiorentino's first actions was to contact the Town's lobbyists and State Senators and notify them that the Bethlehem's position has changed, and is now in favor of Casella's NCES landfill expansion. Here Ubaldo and Fiorentino appears before the NH Senate Energy, Environment and Economic Development Committee and lobbies against the Town's HB 1429 to argue in favor of Casella's position. Filmed on May 6, 2008.
