  • What a thrill to see Maggie Smith in such a brilliant performance.

  • Thank you so much for posting this I thought this was lost to history - not a big market for British dialogue like this here. Saw it when it came out and have looked for it for years. Seems even better 20 years later. Smith shows why she holds the title Dame...

  • she's so hot!

  • I was in high school when I last saw this, so It is with very mature eyes that I appreciate it so much more now.

  • This is one of the best things that I've EVER seen Maggie Smith do. She is so good all of the time, but this really showed her talent because it was just her telling Susan's story. I was able to finally find this on the Maggie Smith Collection. Not only did this have some very amusing parts, but was beautifully poignant as well. It made quite an impression on me when I saw it on PBS all of those years ago and I'm so glad that I was able to find it again.

  • I join the chorus of voices on this page and like "slvc415" above, I could repeat that post verbatim. Searched since years and it was on no list and I couldn't understand it. This was one of the most brilliant series I'd ever seen. Of course Maggie stood out in my mind above all not only because of her unique talent but the subject is priceless. "cards on the table Geoffrey, you don't believe really". Actually I know a number of Catholic priests and Anglican Vicars and for them it is JUST A JOB.

  • ur words i take 2 heart. thank u so much. :) :)

  • Thanks so much for posting, watched this years ago and was enthralled, and like slvc, never thought i'd see it again

  • Brilliant

  • chicken wings and a tuna fish sauce! yuks hahaha

  • I've loved this TH monologue since I was 14 when a friend, who'd done it for A-level, lent me the scripts. It was her favourite, too, and rightly so.

    Superb.

  • I could only find 10p (laughs head off) A classic thanks for posting this
