Biloxi and the Gulf Coast became an after thought after the media focused on all of the chaos happening in New Orleans. I work and live in Biloxi and I am still amazed when people visit from all parts of the country and can't believe the destruction that happened.I think the reason that is because N.O. got all of the attention in the media and continues to. Biloxi and the G.C. may not have the history of N.O. or character but we matter!

I live in Biloxi and came home to a slab of concrete where my house used to be. I appreciate this video and every other that shows the realization that Katrina hit Biloxi rather than New Orleans. The eye of the storm actually came closer to Biloxi than New Orleans... Biloxi will never be the same and it is upsetting. Thank you for this video though. ^^

Thank you 4 this video, I was 1 of the many that didn't evacuate but thankfully lived thru the destruction of Katrina. It's frustrating to me that so many people assume I lived in New Orleans when I say I was in Katrina, most say "oh mississippi got hit hard 2?" then I tell my story (I lived in Diamondhead) & the hell we went thru when we saw the storm surge coming but could do nothing about it & the aftermath we faced when we were on day 5 with no food/water. Most thank me for educating them.

@greatmuta1 me to new orleans wasnt shit compared to biloxis damage

@takeoutdeliveryboy Biloxi has a history older than new orleans. Ocean springs was the first established city of lousianna, and Biloxi had been the capital.

I remember driving by Treasure Bay out in the middle of 90. All the devastation. A normal route taking a good 10 minutes took hours. Not one lick of breeze anywhere. No power. People rushing places because of word on gas and then finding out it was just rumor. It sucked. It sucked real bad. Thank you for this footage. The gulf coast still stands strong today and always will. We came together. And that is what matters.

@indnbeaut I will never understand why the people on the coast never attempted to force that fat pig out of office. Many Mississippians from the rest of the state would have joined you.

as a brit biloxi was never even mentioned on the news....goes to show how much we dont get shown

I lived on Myretle Street in Biloxi and was surrounded on 3 sides by water. I lost everything I owned. Mississippi took the direst hit, New Orleans went under water because of the levees. Haley Barber didn't exactly help get MS the attention it needed but then he is Bush's buddy. He was also the genius that sent away the floating hospital from Pascagoula, when our own hospitals went down., citing that it was illegal. Like the hurting and injured people would give a shit about that! HB -POS
