Blame Thor Equities and Joe Sitt for what you saw in Coney, Please don't let first impressions scare you from Coney. Give Coney time She'll come around again. Unless Joe Sitt builds a Mall. Come down and Join me in Coney Friday Night, watch the fireworks and feel that old time Magic.

Messed up what happened to Fatty. He was ruined by a lying wench and an unscrupulous DA. This was one of his best shorts, though. It's not in this clip, but later on in this film, Buster becomes a life guard and does a mean standing backflip. He was athletic as hell.

Fatty looks like someone from our age. Everyone else looks like 1910s people.

I love the piano in this version! Just saw my first Fatty Arbuckle film (Love) a week ago (His 126th birthday!) on TCM. I'm hooked. It's truly sad that his career was stonewalled, because you could see the magnetism he has on screen.

I agree with you about 50%...all silent films were supposed to be slightly faster than normal speed. This made movements more light and crisp, and was the accepted style at the time. Some films were close to sound speed (like Fairbanks's Robin Hood) while others, especially comedies, were faster (like the Keystone films). Some copies of old films have obviously been sped up or slowed down too much, but this one looks about right. It can take time for we "moderners" to get used to it. ;-)

A lot of people back then didn't have electricity yet at all! Definitely must have been a sight!

An innocent, good man and a sadly forgotten part of Hollywood history.

I bet most people maybe had 3 or 4 light bulbs in their whole house back then so that Luna Park with all those lights must have been astonishing.
