United States Congressman John Shimkus (R-Il.) puts all of our minds at ease about global warming. Both because of what it says in some ancient texts AND because of his absolute certainty about it. We should all breathe a sigh of relief knowing THIS guy is making life and death decisions for us.

This is from the U.S. House Subcommittee on Energy and Environment - March 25th 2009

*IN CASE MY POINT WAS NOT CLEAR IN THE VIDEO*

I have no interest in arguing whether global warming is happening. The reason I find this so appalling is because this elected official is using his personal scripture to dismiss a public issue. It seems that no matter how sure we were about global warming, this clown would still ignore it because of what it says in his scripture.

Also, no one bothers to present any evidence for the veracity of their holy books. Which is fine, if it is a personal belief. It is their right to believe what they want to believe, and it is even their right to look down on non-believers - think less of them as a result of their disbelief - even though that doesn't seem very fair.

But when we start seeing people use scripture to ignore major global issues, I am afraid I am going to have to ask for some evidence to back up that funky old collection of desert scribblings.

  • @buugiman78 "How can such an utterly ignorant freak be allowed to spread his nonsense on a climate change in Congress?" Because we are not allowed to call him an ignorant freak, or question or doubt any part of his faith or his scripture lest we be branded as "disrespectful and intolerant". Critical thinking or awareness of reality is apparently forbidden in the US because those who dont beleive make those who do feel bad and we cant have people feeling bad now can we?

  • What the FUCK is wrong with USA! How can such an utterly ignorant freak be allowed to spread his nonsense on a climate change in Congress? Who the fuck cares what the bible says. In what way is that even remotely relevant! The talk about of free speech is utter nonsense. You should discuss the topic and deal with relevant information. While he's at it he could explain how he likes sucking dicks as well. That's just as relevant with regard to climate change.

  • As an Illinois resident, I wish I could vote against this dipshit. He's not in my district. He's in one of our stupid, bible-thumping districts.

  • This asshole makes me ashamed to be from Illinois.

People at Fox News keep ranting about the Liberals and our "War on Christianity" in America? Here you go! This is why.

I love the girl on the right of the screen... look at her facial expression the moment Shimkus mentions Genesis. Epic!

  • In the first fucking place, what are theologists doing testifying in a congressional hearing about energy and environment? What possible knowledge could those morons bring to the topic? IMPEACH THIS MORON IMMEDIATELY!

  • USA is like ROME...and his prime have pass a long time ago, your end is coming.

  • @JabberCT Believe me, so do we Americans. We're also confused why some of these people get chosen since we didn't vote for them. The politics here are very tricky/fishy and sneaky

  • @fusedchromosome HAH! WELL SAID!

  • Shimkus is proof positive that critical thinking skills aren't required to get elected. Who needs facts when you've got a holy book.

  • And idiot who doesn't know how to read his own scripture. God said he wouldn't flood the earth. He never said that man wouldn't flood the earth.
