PART 3 OF 3 - Interestingly, the official title for this episode is "Luke and Noah try to set up Elwood." As we can see, Noah is not part of the scheme. In fact, he warned Casey against it. Also note how much the officer who brings Elwood in (4:00) looks like Noah. As far as I know, the actor is not related to Jake. I've seen Jake's brother though and he is adorable. Just imagine a younger Noah, with a MUCH goofier face (that's a compliment). He also played gay in an amusing skit. We even exchanged a few emails.
I included the closing credits so that you guys can see the actors' names. Jake's name is at the end because he still doesn't have a contract. Don't feel too bad for him though because not having a contract gives him a lot more freedom. Whereas Van needs to show up even if he has no scenes, Jake has the freedom to do other projects. Van would need special permission to do outside work. In fact, ATWT often needs to arrange their schedule around the availability of their non-contracted actors. The flip side, of course, is that Jake lacks security. They can kill off his character at any second. Van, on the other hand, has a 3 year contract. So even if they kill Luke, ATWT would still have to pay off the remainder of his contract (with limits, of course).
This episode has reminders of Luke's election scandal. Both Luke and Casey are driven by emotions to get revenge on Ellwood, whille Noah is cautious and rational. In fact, we see Noah physically holding Luke back several times, i.e. at the police station after Elwood was let go. In the election scandal, both Luke and Casey were also driven by irrational emotions against Kevin, while Noah dissented.
For what it's worth, even if Elwood did sell the drugs, no one forced Reg to buy or use them. So anger toward Elwood oe whomever the dealer was is misplaced. Studies by The Pride Institute has shown that recreational drug use is higher in the lgbt community than the general populous. This includes alcohol and tabacco. There are many reasons, from internalized and societal homophobia, to the drug culture that is normally found in dance clubs.
The most interesting character here is Matt. Is he really as niice a guy as he seems or is he hiding secrets? Was he actually the one that sold Reg the drugs?
Elwood is played by Alex Charek, the first winner of CBS's online reality competition, Inturn, where contestants compete for a 13 week contract on ATWT. Charek started off as another nerdy character, who was subsequently killed by The Oakdale Slasher. Charek then came back as his geeky cousin, Elwood. The character has gotten darker as time went on, and has now been involved in several crimes.
