1980 XR 80 Restore project!!!

Running now, Received it in Seized condition. Runs good, Clutch and shifter need work now

my friend has the same bike and he got it for $20, but the thing is the spark will go for a second or two then goes away, we tried adjusting the timing but the samething happends. so now ima buy it of of my friend and get my uncle to fix it with me, any idea where to start first to fix the problem with the timming?

@CoolSypherz76 The bike uses a Points style Capacitive ignition system, Which is under the flywheel, The points gap usually gets dirty/corroded, You can access them through the holes in the flywheel, Use a paper nail file to clean between the contacts and it should take care of it.

Word of advice, don't feather the throttle so much with 2 strokes. You'll foul out the plug.

It was poor compression on my part. I had to go from a 300 MB AVI to that.

any one that knows dirt bikes should knoe that is a 4 stroke even by looking at the motor and they never made a xr80 2 stroke only cr80

I have the same bike, everything is stock except the tires. It will crank up without choke on the first kick and wont shutoff until its out of gas!(:

tessier1234 yoh man i have the same type of bike idk if u have this problem wtih ur urs mind run fine i just got the motore clean up but my trottle dont work i have check everything cant seems to get why its arnt working if u have any answer what to check next that will get its to rev agin let me know thx
