Hi Rock Fans!

Well, this is it. It's the last cover I'll be playing until White Knuckles finishes recording our demo. We've got a bad-ass producer lined up and 5 tunes we are working on to blow your minds with!

The cover I chose to play this time is I Know It Hurts, by Alter Bridge. I think it's one of the most exciting tunes off of AB III - due in no small part to Mark's amazing solo at the end of the song. It's absolutely perfect. Just the right amount of speed, melody and just downright passion - and the placement of the solo is awesome. What a way to end such a great song.

Learnings -
I used this song to work on a few things:
• The tuning - Drop C#/A#. This is the same tuning used in Alter Bridge songs like Broken Wings, All Hope Is Gone, and I believe - The Damage Done. I love how this tuning offers lots of octaves to use, especially when you can play an octave by using the standard power chord shape on the 6th and 5th string. It's the basis for the main riff of this song. Totally cool!

• The solo - this was a huge challenge for me. I really wanted to work on using my alternate picking and legato technique in the same solo, and this tune provided the lesson I needed.

• I also have begun working on playing without looking at the fretboard. There were a few spots in this video where I was brave enough to do that, and I plan to work harder to get even better at it in future.


Thanks to Mark for writing such great melodies. Myles, Brian and Flip, you guys complete the musical package. I appreciate what you guys do, and I hope you can tell I try to be very respectful with the songs from your repertoire that I choose to cover.
