In this, the first episode of my new weekly series "Geodyssey," I discuss the desiccation of the Mediterranean Sea, which occurred several time between about five million and six million years ago. Apologies for disabling voting on comments. Unfortunately, a couple of egregious, microcephalic losers with multiple sock accounts, equally desperate for attention and compensation for their micropalluses, have been haunting my channel of late. Their latest cry for help has involved voting down positive comments.

@leeroynaggins some geologists predict they will smash bach together in what is now the north south eastern part of the pacific ocean, having come from close 2 north africa, by that time the sun will b so hot that the future unicontinent won't b able 2 sustain life, as it will become a giant desert. I saw this on a national geographic special, can't remember what its called

I'm really curious what the music was at the beginning of this video?
inuyashaxx 9 months ago
@inuyashaxx The music is from the soundtrack of the film "Das Boot."

Very interesting video Clare. The idea of the Atlantic flowing into the Mediterranean for a thousand years is kind of mind blowing.
If you're looking for other projects, I'm curious about the geological history of my region, the upper Midwest. You've mentioned before how there are layers of micro fossils left by the shallow sea that once covered this region. Where I live, mining gypsum is a major industry. Does gypsum come from ancient marine life?
ebullock43 9 months ago
@ebullock43 Gypsum is a chemical precipitate, or "evaporite."
WildwoodClaire1 9 months ago
@WildwoodClaire1 So I'm guessing it was left by the ancient sea that once covered this region?
ebullock43 9 months ago
@ebullock43 correct
